Initial Comments:
An unannounced recertification survey was conducted on August 1, 2022, through August 4, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside - Transplant Center by the Pennsylvania Department of Health - Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care at the request of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). It was determined that the facility was in substantial compliance with Part 482 - Conditions of Participation for Hospitals - Subpart E - Requirements for Specialty Hospital - 68 Special requirements for transplant centers.
The recertification survey included the following types of organ transplant programs:
AHO - Adult Heart - only
ALO - Adult Lung - only
AKO - Adult Kidney - only
APO - Adult Pancreas - only
ALI - Adult Liver
AIM - Adult Intesting/Multivisceral
It was also determined the facility was found to be in substantial compliance with 42 CFR, Title 42, Part 482-Conditions of Participation for Hospitals at 482.42(g)(1)-(3)(i)-(x) COVID-19 Vaccination of Facility Staff.
